01 april: Tarawa (Kiribati) - Lagoon Breeze Motel

This morning we went to the harbour to see the Te Taobe, the ship that tomorrow will bring us to Banaba's island.
It's a mercantile ship, there are only two couchettes with a bed for everyone.
At the harbour it's hot, there is people that arrive and go, all are workmen of the ships, there's our container full of goods that we'll use at Banaba.
Some people put in the container a lot of beers and bottles of water, that they bought here.
At lunch we went to a chinese restaurant with a name like "A boy" or something similar.
I don't like the foods of this restaurant, it seemed not very fresh, but Frank and the others operators like very much chinese foods and they ate enormous dishes.
In the afternoon Andrea and me are not very well, perhaps we didn't digest the food that we ate at the chinese.
Andrea had some radio contacts and I phone to home (Cost: 20 australian dollars for 2 minutes).
It's not possible to connect to internet because the connection doesn't work.
I gave the motel's phone number to my mum so she phoned me and I told her to phone me tomorrow.
Later we had the last dinner at the Otiintai, but Andrea and me ate only ice cream because we ate something bad food at the chinese at lunch.
After dinner we had the usual conference but this time was in the open air, with a cold wind and rain.
The people here has the strange castom to put glasses outside when it's raining to fill them up with rain water.
Probably they drink it.
