11° giorno a Banaba.

This morning I went to SSB camp to make some radio.
Everybody wants to connect me in SSB !
Before to make radio we made some photos, all together.
What emotion: we'll use one of these photos to make the T33C's QSL !
I'm also me in the picture: I never imagined to be considered like a radio amateur.
I thought to come to Banaba only to accompany Andrea !
Later we came back to base camp, the guesthouse, to have lunch, like every day we ate fried fish, rice and strange sauces, made with some remainders of fish.
In the afternoon, at around the 5,30 p.m., a pick-up stopped at the guesthouse to take us to a party that was organized for us by the islanders.
I didn't want to go to the party, so I didn't go with the others on the pick-up.
I wanted to stay at the guesthouse and make some SSB radio connections.
Andrea have prepared me everything to make radio connections: the radio with the right frequency, the amplifier, the microphone, everything was ok.
Then I went out to say them goodbye and when I came back to the radio station someone of the SSB camp was just playing with my frequency.
Bye Bye radio connections !
I was a little depressing, so I went to the pactor's radio station and, after some connection attempts that didn't work, I was able to connect me and I sent some emails.
More later Hrane came back from fishing and some islanders arrived here to take an electric generator and some boxes with some things that we wanted give them like a present.
Instead of pay them we gave them some things that they can use.
They put the generator and the boxes on the pick-up and Hrane and also me came up to join the others at the party.
If we stayed here we didn't eat anything !
Only some island's women stayed here at the guesthouse to watch.
We arrived at the place where it was the party and we have found some friends with a flowers garland on the head.
They were very nice !
They told us that when they arrived there some women put the flowers garlands on their heads to welcome them.
Hrane and me have eaten some good dishes, meat also, chicken and sausages quite goods.
Then we watched to the islanders' dances and sings.
Then there were some speeches, amongst them there was one of an old man of the village.
The doctor, Alan, spoke for us.
Then, when it was dark, the islanders carried back to the guesthouse.
The party was short but very intense.
Some of us, amongst them Will and the doctor Alan, danced with some banaban women.
Will was the most amusing: he was very funny when he danced !
When we came back to the guesthouse, Andrea and me, went immediately to sleep because Andrea should make radio from 2,00 to 6,00 a.m.
