16 april: 13 day in Banaba - Ship trip to Tarawa

A me questi preparativi mettono tanto nervosismo.

We spent all the day to get ready after leaving this evening.
At 8,00 o' clock somebody started to load the stuff on the pick-up to carry them on the ship.
The ship, the "Te Taobe", is already here and they loaded the remained stuff inside the container, above all a lot of water and beers.
Little by little the guesthouse was empted and it impressed me a little to see our old radio station now, inexorably, empty.
All this preparations make me very nervous.
Now we are here, without making nothing and, probably, we'll wait for all the afternoon the moment to leave.
The weather is a little cloud, this night rained a lot: we hope to not wet us during the ship travel.
We had the last lunch and we ate tuna, like the first day, when we arrived here in Banaba.
At 6,00 p.m. we came here to take us to the harbour.
We left the guesthouse, the women and all our Banaba's friends and we went to the harbour, we are ready to board the ship.
At the harbour we said goodbye also the woman with the watch, one of the guesthouse's women that I called so because she was the one to have the watch.
Then we went on board the little boat that left us near the ship.
I was a little scared to fall down in the see and that the boat capsized.
But, little by little, thanks to my dear friend Ron, to Alan, the doctor and with the help of others, I went on board the ship.
What long sigh when I went on board the Te Taobe !
During this return travel I felt me very well, I had never seasickness.
Then it became dark the ship left.
Finally we'll come back to the civilization !
Banaba is a civil place, the Banaba's population is very friendly but we'll come back to Tarawa where there are also cars and there is the airport.
We spent a quiet night in the captain's cabin, but it was very very hot.
So we opened two of the three little windows of the cabin and we could breathe a little.
